Van Gogh: Café Terrace at Night

Van Gogh painted this scene in September 1888 while staying in Arles, France, capturing a café on the Place du Forum lit by gaslight beneath a starry sky.

To this day, it is still possible to stand in the same spot on the square where he set up his easel to paint it.
