The Ravishment of Psyche

This puzzle reproduces William-Adolphe Bouguereau's celebrated 1895 painting depicting the climactic scene of the Cupid and Psyche myth, in which Cupid carries the mortal Psyche up to Olympus to be made immortal.

Bouguereau, a leading figure of French academic painting and winner of the Prix de Rome, was renowned for his idealised, exquisitely rendered mythological and allegorical figures, making this a romantic, richly coloured piece for lovers of classical art.
