Paperback: 10th Anniversary Edition

Word-building meets deck-building. You start with a deck of letter cards and wild cards, spell the best word you can each hand, then spend what it scores on stronger letters — most of which carry abilities that fire when you use them, from drawing extra cards to doubling a letter's value. Buy wilds along the way and you'll turn a scrappy vocabulary into victory points.

Help Paige Turner become a famous author by finishing Westerns, Science Fiction, Romance and even Crime Noir novels. Live the dream — and maybe pay the bills.

The 10th Anniversary Edition gives the modern classic a fresh coat of paint:

• New novel covers from a variety of artists.
• New starting decks, adding decisions and variety to the opening turns.
• Genre mode, giving each player a unique tech tree and novel ways to play.
• The Deadline variant, which adds drafting and allows zippy simultaneous play.
• Typos, letting you nab a card that's just out of reach — at the cost of a hard-to-use letter later.
• Unlockable cards that keep expanding the card pool and introducing new abilities.
• A solo Spy mode, pitting you against an automated enemy agent who creates problems you must address until your deck is strong enough to end the game.
• A classic variant pack, so you can still play Paperback the original way.
